Philip Poortmans of the Iridium Network and the University of Antwerp, together with Fiorita Poulakaki of the Athens Medical Group, explored the evolving collaboration between radiation oncology and breast surgery. Both highlighted a shared trend toward treatment de-escalation, including breast-conserving surgery, less extensive lymph node removal, and shorter, lower-dose radiotherapy schedules - all supported by improved long-term outcomes. Their message reinforced the importance of personalised, multidisciplinary care and specialised expertise at every stage of diagnosis and treatment to optimise survival, safety, and quality of life.
